Dressed in costumes inspired by the Japanese International Federation of Competitive Eating, six Gainesville residents kneeled in remembrance of Momofuku Ando, the inventor of instant noodles, who died Jan. 5 at the age of 96.
The winner of the contest, Kyle Lowe, who ate four bowls of chicken- and oriental-flavored ramen noodles in eight minutes, said his inspiration came from his devotion to ramen noodles through his college career.
