More than a year ago now I helped Ryan Moulton produce a short film series called Hawaii Girl.
Today, I learned that all but one are finished. It’s kind of bittersweet.
When I watch them, I remember getting Starbucks coffee for 9 people in the library with Nora; April chasing Jennifer around with the hammer; taking a square foot of sod up to the third floor of the Reitz Union; and pitching jokes to Ryan at the Orange and Brew and deciding what episodes we had time to shoot before the year was over and I graduated.
Seeing it reminds me of old friends. It reminds me of how far I’ve come. It reminds me of how far I have to go.
A lot has changed in my life but it’s nice that Hawaii Girl is exactly how I remember we shot it.
Kudos Ryan. Someone employ him right away.
HAWAII GIRL: Science
Science was always my favorite.
HAWAII GIRL: Bomb
Can you spot my cameo? And Danny’s? And Andrew Tan’s?
HAWAII GIRL: Wake-up Time
HAWAII GIRL: Trapped

Out popped a dozen people in dark windbreakers identifying them as feds -- agents from Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Some raced to the loading docks. Others hurried through the front door. All were armed.
